League of Women Voters co-sponsors Oct. 12 candidate forum

Posted on: October 5, 2010
League of Women Voters of Southwest Missouri and Renew Missouri will co-sponsor a forum, featuring local candidates for Missouri representative and senate. It will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, in the Trustee Science Center Reed Auditorium on the Drury University campus.

Candidates for the races of Missouri State Representative District 136, 137, 138, and 140, and Missouri State Senate District 30 have been invited to participate in this informational forum.

During the forum, each candidate will be asked to give a two-minute opening statement. A moderator will present questions to all candidates in rotating order, as previously determined by a random drawing. The questions will be divided between issues of importance to both Renew Missouri and League of Women Voters of Southwest Missouri. Audience members may participate by submitting questions on index cards for consideration.

League of Women Voters of Southwest Missouri is a non-partisan political organization dedicated to active citizen participation in democracy, including voter education and candidate forums. Renew Missouri is a non-partisan political organization working to advance renewable energy and energy efficiency in Missouri.

The forum is free and open to the public. The Trustee Science Center is located on the southwest corner of Bob Barker Blvd. and Drury Lane (one block north and one block east of the intersection of Chestnut Expressway and Benton Avenue ).
